Track 1: Vaccine development:

Vaccine research is long, complex and costly. Because a vaccine is a biological product made from living microorganisms, its development method is quite different from that of a pharmaceutical method. Approximately 70% of production time is dedicated to quality control, Vaccine development is a long, complex process, often lasting 10-15 years and involving a combination of public and private involvement. Vaccine development and testing follow a standard set of steps.

1. Laboratory Studies and Animal Studies: Exploratory Stage, Pre-clinical Stage, IND Application

2. Clinical Studies with Human Subjects: Phase I Vaccine Trials, Phase II Vaccine Trials, Phase III Vaccine Trials,

3. Approval and Licensure

4. Post-Licensure Monitoring of Vaccines

5. Phase IV Trials

Track 2Vaccine Business:

The Evolution in the Vaccines market continues with strong growth and new prospects to continue the growth in Vaccines market, which now stands at about $25 billion. The market is expected to return a compound annual growth rate of more than 8% through 2018, Evaluate projects, with some segments like adult vaccines showing even better.

The major growth in vaccine sales has been in the adult influenza market with the big focus on flu prevention and an acceptance of adult vaccines. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently noted that only 56% of people who received the jab were protected from influenza. Here we present the Top 5 vaccine companies based on their 2012 vaccine revenues, as they are of, Sanofi, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Novartis. While vaccine prices have always been higher in the middle east countries due to tiered pricing, prices have been rising dramatically in recent years.

Track 3: Novel Vaccines against Infectious Diseases:

Vaccination, leading to the eradication of naturally occurring air borne diseases, the near elimination of polio and the control of diseases. The potential introduction of viruses into the sustained circulation among populations of immunologically active, healthy and susceptible hosts. The induction of protective immunity through vaccination by using Vaccines can be a powerful tool to prevent this act by conferring protection to the population at risk is due to the lack of experimental tools for several viruses, lack of concern, poor immunogenicity, safety issues.

Track 4: Adult Immunization Challenges:

Looking forward at vaccine-preventable diseases, findings at the pre vaccine era and the year, you can see virtually that all the vaccine-preventable diseases for which there were current vaccines, they have been decreased by 99% to 100%. we might be forgetting about one of the simplest preventive care measures available is of vaccination. Keeping up to date with your vaccinations is a great way to stay healthy, through the use of vaccines, measles and rubella have been eliminated in many areas, polio has been eliminated from most of the world, and smallpox has been completely eradicated. The reasons for low adult vaccination rates, indicating adult Immunization challenges like one challenge is that payment for adult vaccination can be confusing, the other one is  the adult vaccination schedule is much more complicated than the childhood vaccination schedule, with certain vaccines needed at certain times, depending on age, living conditions and health conditions.

Vaccines have greatly eliminated many infectious diseases that once routinely killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults. Viruses and bacteria that cause vaccine-preventable disease still exist and can be allowed to pass on to people who are not protected by vaccines.  Vaccines work with the body's natural defenses to safely develop immunity and suffering from their effects.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease which, causes the body’s own ‘killer’ T cells to kill off the pancreas’s insulin which produces beta cells. Diabetes vaccines help to stop the T cells from attacking the body's own cells.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder results in hyperglycemia (high blood glucose levels) due to the body being ineffective at using the insulin and unable to produce enough insulin,

Type 2 diabetes earlier known as non-insulin dependent diabetes due to its occurrence mainly in people over 40.

Track 6: Veterinary Vaccines:

The major goal of veterinary vaccines is to improve the health and welfare of companion animals, increase production of livestock in a cost-effective way, and prevent animals to human transmission from both domestic animals and wildlife. The strain of rabies virus used and that of the characteristics of the cell substrate chosen for viral replication, highly immunogenic and  inactivated cell culture vaccines for immunization of dogs and the parenteral route are now widely available on the international market at cost affordable. In addition the trend towards transfer of modern cell culture method for the parenteral veterinary vaccines production is increasing in developing countries particularly in Asia.

Track 7: Therapeutic Vaccines for Chronic Infections:

Therapeutic vaccines mainly aim to prevent severe complications of a chronic infection by reinforcing host defenses when some immune control, albeit insufficient, can be demonstrated using the vaccinia cowpox virus, Jenner was able to protect vaccines from variola or smallpox. The Modified Virus Ankara (MVA) poxvirus strain which is one of the vaccines developed to prevent smallpox infection and was selected by the US government in their Biodefense strategy.

Track 8: Cancer Vaccines / AIDS/HIV Vaccines:

HIV vaccine is a type vaccine which would either protect individuals who do not have HIV from contracting that virus, Cancer vaccines are of medicines that belong to a class of substances known as biological response modifiers. This modifiers work by stimulation and restoring the immune system’s ability to fight infections and disease. There are two broad types of cancer vaccines:

2 types of cancer vaccines

1. Preventive (or prophylactic) vaccines

2. Treatment (or therapeutic) vaccines,

Track 9: Immuno-Informatics in Vaccine Designs:

The regions which are termed as epitopes, are ideal components of vaccines. When the different new tools are used for the search of epitopes, this search is usually coupled with in vitro screening methods; an approach has been termed computational immunology immuno-informatics. The active agent of a vaccine may be intact but it is inactivated (‘attenuated’) forms of the causative pathogens.

Types of vaccines

1.  Inactivated vaccines

2. Live attenuated vaccines

3. Subunit vaccines

4. Virus-like particles

Track 10: Immunology / animal models:

A model organism is a non-human species that is extensively studied to understand particular biological phenomena, with the expectation that discoveries which made in the organism model will provide insight into the different workings of other organisms. It deals with the physiological functioning of the immune system, in states as of both health and diseases, failure of the immune system results in the immunological disorders, which will affect the physical, chemical and physiological characters of the components of the immune system in vitro, in situ and in vivo.

Track 11: Vectors / adjuvants / drug delivery:

An adjuvant is any compound that enhances the immune response against a vaccine antigen. In many cases, the antigen itself is immunogenic; therefore an adjuvant is needed to intensify the immune response. Adjuvants can also be included in vaccine, as of which can guide the immune response  which could be generated, Potent adjuvants enhances the effectiveness of vaccines which accelerates  the generation of robust immune responses, the sustaining responses for a longer duration and inducing local mucosal immune responses, thus generating antibodies with increased affinity and neutralization capacity.

Track 12: Childhood Immunization Challenges:

The most important challenge today is to keep up the awareness and interest momentum among  donors and health personnel until basic immunization services are attained, more than 30 million children still without the most basic protection provided by vaccines. Approximately 40% of children are under immunized state. One of the leading reasons for this is a lack of understanding by parents on the importance of childhood vaccines and lack of importance about vaccines, The primary barrier is of immunization, which we found were parental doubt about vaccine importance, decreased communication with providers, the need to reschedule appointments, and problems scheduling appointments, enhance the immunity.

Track 13: Vaccines for pregnant women:

Some of the vaccines, such as the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine, should be given a month or more before pregnancy. Vaccines some should get while pregnancy are like T dap which protect against whooping cough, at time during pregnancy. Some other vaccines like the flu shot, can be given before or during pregnancy, which depend upon the whether or not its flu season, when you’re pregnant. There are mostly 2 vaccines routinely recommended during pregnancy time, those are of flu and Tdap.

Pneumococcal vaccine, is used at time, which is high risk of pneumococcal disease
