Abstract

We aimed to evaluate immunostimulatory effect of Salmonella Enteritidis ghost vaccine on maturation of chicken bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BM-DCs) in vitro. The immature BM-DCs were stimulated with vaccine. The vaccine efficiently stimulated maturation events in BM-DCs, indicated by up-regulated expression of CD40, CD80, and MHC-II molecules. Immature BM-DCs responded to stimulation with vaccine by expression of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-12 cytokines. In addition, vaccine stimulated BM-DCs could induce significant expression of IFN-γ and IL-2 in co-culture with autologous lymphocytes. In conclusion, our data suggest that vaccine candidate is capable of activating DCs for modulation of adaptive immune responses.
